When it comes to visual impairment, we may think that we may face obstacles in certain areas of our lives in many respects. In such situations, many people may react by isolating themselves from the outside world and withdrawing into themselves. But when I tell you about five famous visually impaired people who inspire you with their different approaches to life, you will clearly witness that the obstacles are actually in the individual's own mind and that such obstacles can only be overcome if the individual wants to.
Who is the first name we will talk about, Visually Impaired Model Molly Burke?
When Molly first experienced blindness, everything started to change for her. In her teenage years, she faced the additional challenge of blindness on top of the stressful situations that everyone experiences, Molly isolated herself from this situation by giving a real struggle. She started her journey with the goal of becoming a beauty queen. Despite claims that she couldn't achieve it, Molly won the title of Miss Teen Canada International. However to raise awareness about inclusion, equality and empowerment around the world, she gave up her crown and began speaking on stages. Molly didn't stop there and became one of the first disabled content creators on YouTube to spread a more universal message. In a very short time, she expanded her reach and made her voice heard by millions of people on platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
Who is Lucy Edwards, a person who stands out for overcoming obstacles?
She met visual impairment at the age of seventeen, marking the beginning of a new phase in her life. However, this situation did not hinder her desire to create awareness. Thanks to the video she shared on her YouTube channel, she was able to raise awareness and open the doors to change. She then worked with many charitable organizations. Afterwards, she came to the forefront with her presenting career. Having a disability did not hold Lucy back from living her life to the fullest..
Who is Famous Visually Impaired Youtuber Tommy Edison?
Another person who makes us believe that no disability can get in the way of the life an individual wants to live is Tommy Edison. Tommy has a congenital visual impairment and has made videos by adding a funny perspective to the difficulties this situation creates in his life. He later began to review movies and claimed to focus on different aspects than sighted individuals when watching movies. Afterwards, he became known as the blind film critic. Even though he never saw traffic, he continued his career as a traffic reporter and was quite successful in this role.
Who is Sam Seavy, Using the Power of YouTube to Overcome Obstacles?
I will also mention Sam Seavy, who reached large audiences through the channel called 'The Blind Life,' thanks to YouTube. When he was diagnosed with a genetic eye disease called Stargardt at the age of 11, he noticed the limited content about blindness on YouTube. This led him to enter this world, and in his videos, he began promoting these products so that people who had lost their sight could benefit from newly developed technologies.
The last person I will talk about, who overcame obstacles to achieve her goals, is Christine Ha.
So who is Christine Ha? We can answer the question as follows;
In the midst of a very busy educational life, a permanent loss of vision due to an autoimmune condition led her to start focusing on things that would make her work easier and develop a passion for cooking. Later, she became the first visually impaired individual to compete in and win MasterChef. She now owns a modern gastropub called The Blind Goat in Vietnam.
In conclusion, what we call obstacles can't go beyond existing in people's minds. These achievements inspire us to work towards a more inclusive, more accessible world. Our hope is for more success stories like these to multiply and removeo bstacles, providing an equal world for everyone.
