As everyone knows, blind and visually impaired people use their sense of hearing much more often than other people. For this reason, they are inclined toward music and some blind or visually impaired people have used this inclination by turning it to their advantage.
Here are some musicians with impressing life stories:
Metin Şentürk
Metin Şentürk was born in May 16, 1966, Fatih, Istanbul. Currently, he is 56 years old (2022).
He lost his sense of seeing due to a house accident when he was 3. He composed songs in various genres like pop, Turkish art music, alaturka. Besides being a musician, one of Metin Şentürk’s amazing talents is that he played as a guest actor either as himself or as other characters in several Turkish tv series.
He also became the world’s fastest visually impaired driver on April 2, 2010. He managed this by following the instructions of a rally driver by radio, who followed him from behind.
Today, Metin Şentürk also is chairman of the world disability association.
Stevie Wonders
His real name is Stevland Hardaway Judkins, Stevie Wonders was born on 13 May 1950, in Michigan, US.
Due to being born 6 weeks early, his eyes had not developed. This illness is also called retinopathy of prematurity. as of today, he is 72 years old (2022). Stevie Wonder can play piano, drums and harmonica. He released his first hit song “Fingertips” at the age of 13.
During his 50 years of musical career, he released hit songs as Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m yours.
Nobuyuki Tsujii
Nobuyuki Tsujii was born in 1998. He lost his sense of sight due to the disease microphthalmia.
He could play the songs by hearing with a toy piano at the age of 2. Despite beginning piano lessons at the age of 4, he continues until today to play the songs by hearing.
The talent which makes him a master musician is the ability to play songs on the piano instantly when he hears them. Nobuyuki Tsujii has taken a role in many orchestras worldwide and he has won many awards.
