Hello dear readers! What does makeup mean to you? What is the joy of feeling beauty, playing with textures and colors while expressing your personal style? Now imagine experiencing this with your eyes closed. For visually impaired individuals, applying makeup requires a creativity and skill that most of us may never think about. Fortunately, technology and EyeBrands are taking big steps to remove these barriers. The collaboration between Maybelline New York and BlindLook marks a revolutionary step that enables visually impaired individuals to freely explore the world of makeup.

EyeBrand Maybelline!

With Maybelline New York becoming an EyeBrand, visually impaired users can now freely access Maybelline’s products. Product information can be heard through audio simulations, and by using AI technology, users can take photos of products to learn their descriptions and ingredients. This way, visually impaired individuals can make decisions on a lipstick or foundation without needing assistance. A Workshop That Lets You Feel Beauty

At BlindLook and Maybelline, we organized this workshop to show that visually impaired individuals belong in the beauty world. The goal was for participants to feel more confident in applying makeup and to use products freely.

In the workshop, experienced makeup trainers from L’Oréal introduced each product and explained makeup techniques in detail. For example, we learned that when applying mascara, using zigzag motions and concentrating the product at the roots of the lashes provides a dramatic look without weighing down the lashes. As for highlighter application, it was emphasized to apply it to the cheekbones using a tapping motion after feeling them. This technique can also be applied under the brow bone to create a youthful, dynamic, and healthy look, regardless of facial morphology. After these applications, a setting spray was recommended to ensure the makeup lasts throughout the day. Participants had the opportunity to try these techniques and improve their own experiences.

Participants experienced the products by touch and learned about colors through an AI assistant. Each product, including foundation, lipstick, and mascara, was explained step-by-step. Participants familiarized themselves with the products through touch and had a hands-on experience with how to use them. For more delicate applications such as lipstick and eye makeup, trainers provided detailed instructions to ensure visually impaired individuals felt more comfortable in the process.

Conclusion: Makeup Should Be Accessible to Everyone

The Maybelline New York x BlindLook workshop proved that makeup goes beyond sight! Thanks to our freedom technologies for the visually impaired, individuals can now freely participate in the beauty world. At BlindLook, we believe that everyone should have equal access not only to the beauty world but to all services, and we are proud to continue moving forward on this path. Makeup is not just about outer beauty, but also a powerful tool for self-expression. Through this collaboration with Maybelline New York, we are continuing to break down barriers for visually impaired individuals in the beauty world.
